Sault Ste. Marie, MI, May 16th 2013:  Local business owner Ryan Peterson got her start as a stylist a number of years ago, but developed a lung disease while working at a local salon.  She found that working with standard salon hair products aggravated her condition.  Ryan was faced with the choice of either leaving the industry or figuring out a way to work with alternate hair products.

In 2010, Ryan took the plunge and open Eco Hair Salon, specializing in all natural, organic hair products for each service she offers.  Ryan spent the next three years working out of a small space on north Ashmun Street, just big enough for one customer at a time.

This spring, Ryan and her husband decided the business was ready for expansion.  Ryan signed a lease just next door to her former space, and moved into a larger storefront with better visibility.  Ryan remodeled the entire interior, transforming it into one of the brightest and most inviting spaces downtown.

Eco Hair Salon has been operating in its new location for just a few weeks, and Ryan has already seen an increase in business. She has created two new jobs, after hiring a massage therapist trained in all-natural massage, as well as a pedicurist.

Eco Hair Salon is planning a grand opening and ribbon cutting in conjunction with the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce on May 20th.  The grand opening is open to the public from 10am to 5pm, with the Chamber of Commerce conducting the ribbon cutting at noon.

Anyone who stops in during grand opening hours will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary waxing and five minute massages, as well as register for prizes including gift certificates and organic hair products.
