Alpha Theta Omega is a local sorority, who devotes their time to fundraising for breast cancer awareness. Alpha Theta Omega donated $1,000 to Susan G Komen, and donated $1,000 to our local health department this past year. The Chippewa County Health Department aids awareness for women around the area of Sault Ste. Marie and helps those that have breast cancer. One of the sorority’s biggest fundraisers is a 24 hour Rock-a-Thon. The Rock-a-Thon is a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. It is an annual event held downtown in Sault Ste. Marie outside the front of The Alpha and The Savoy. The ladies rock in rocking chairs for 24 hours straight to raise money by collecting donations. It’s that time of the year again that the girls from Alpha Theta Omega dedicate their time into hosting this event. The event is Friday April 20th and goes until Saturday April 21st. Along with fundraising for breast cancer awareness the sorority also devotes a lot of time to the community of Sault Ste Marie. The girls just finished volunteering their time cleaning up the beautiful downtown area on April 15th. Please welcome the girl’s downtown as they join together to fight for breast cancer awareness and show your local support.
